TESOL 580 Introduction to Applied Linguistics
TESOL 580 presents an overview of the field of linguistics including phonology, morphology, syntax, pragmatics, psycholinguistics, and sociolinguistics. Special emphasis is placed on the psychology of teaching and learning languages effectively, as well as practical approaches to teaching pronunciation to language learners. Candidates connect theory with practice and explore the characteristics of how languages are analyzed, adapted, and changed.
