EDE 403 Health and Fitness Methods

This course provides an understanding of the potential empowering or limiting effects of health/fitness choices and habits on quality of life, health and lifespan.  Topics include exploration into health-related topics as well as candidate development of teaching skills necessary for effective health education and application of physical activities that promote fitness in the K-8 student learning environment.

Outcomes

  1. This course will prepare students to:
  2. Analyze and address important issues that relate to the physical education setting.
  3. Identify a variety of health-related topics that impact the individual, culture, and community.
  4. Apply grade-level appropriate Health and Fitness State Standards, skills and instructional strategies to a K-8 setting.
  5. Create and apply techniques that facilitate student development of basic motor skills, rhythmic ability, physical activity, and physical fitness.
