ESP 536 Behavior Analysis II
This course is the second in the Behavior Analysis sequence and is for candidates pursuing a special education endorsement. Candidates will apply concepts from Behavior Analysis I in order to make revisions for legal compliance on Functional Behavioral Assessments (FBA) and Behavioral Intervention Plans for special education students exhibiting challenging behaviors. Candidates will also explore the state and federal laws surrounding disciplinary actions for special education students, including Emergency Response Protocols (such as isolation and restraint) in public school settings.

Concurrent enrollment or previous successful completion of
ESP 525 or director approval
Outcomes
- This course will prepare students to:
- Strategies for crisis prevention and de-escalation of aggressive behavior.
- Strategies for increasing acceptance and inclusion of individuals with disabilities.
- Laws, policies/regulations, and ethical principles regarding positive behavior management planning and implementation, discipline, and aversive therapy.
- Responsibilities regarding procedures for Functional Behavioral Assessment, manifestation determination, and behavior intervention planning.
