ENG 101 English Composition I (HU)

This course introduces students to the principles of college writing. Students develop skills in critical thinking and strategies for interpreting, responding to, and using texts as sources and evidence. They write essays that demonstrate focus, organization, appropriate style, and the grammar and punctuation skills necessary for college writing.

  1. This course will prepare students to:
  2. Develop writing strategies including planning, outlining, drafting, reviewing, revising, and editing.
  3. Identify and evaluate writing including topic sentences, thesis statements, and supporting content.
  4. Integrate evidence from source materials and cite sources according to APA style guidelines to avoid plagiarism.
  5. Summarize and evaluate source materials.
  6. Write cohesive paragraphs that are free of punctuation, grammar, and spelling errors.
