EEA 642 Leadership Internship II *

Students plan their second leadership internship with the support of the university supervisor and the district/school-based mentor. The students apply theory while learning the leadership roles and responsibilities of the principal, curriculum leader, or other school leader. Internship II engages the students to apply and practice the entry level knowledge, skills, and dispositions of educational leaders at the school and district levels. Students build capacity for leadership through activities in the school or district. The students maintain a daily log and weekly reflection and assesses progress toward mastery of entry level knowledge and skills. A total of 120 hours are required for completion of this internship.

Outcomes

1. This course will prepare students to:
2. Explain various leadership theories and approaches.
3. Examine the roles and responsibilities of the school leaders, including legal and ethical issues.
4. Evaluate data informed research, leadership strategies, and/or systems to support a significant educational issue/project relevant to leadership and continuous school improvement.
5. Develop self reflection techniques and personal professional growth planning.
6. Formulate with staff, students, families, and community regarding the implementation of educational initiatives and continuous school improvement that includes elements of Indigeneity and selected global sustainability goals.
7. Develop their leadership capacity.
