ETC 514 Mathematics Methods II
This course explores the instructional sequence of mathematics skills, concepts, standards, and practices that are taught in public schools for students in kindergarten through 8th grade. This course will deepen candidates’ understanding of mathematical inquiry, project-based learning, and implementation of high-leverage strategies for teaching mathematics at the K-8 level. By the end of this course, candidates will be able to apply a variety of methods for effective mathematics instruction and assessment for all students. This course includes components of state requirements for certification.
Outcomes
- This course will prepare students to:
- 1. Explain the progression of mathematics skills, concepts, and standards, and practices taught in kindergarten through 8th grade.
- 2. Apply high-leverage and culturally sustaining practices for mathematics instruction that are aligned with state learning standards.
- 3. Implement high-leverage instructional practices for mathematics.
- 4. Design engaging, inquiry-based learning experiences that integrate mathematics with other core content areas.
