HUM 270 Introduction to World Religions (HU)
This course provides an overview of the history, beliefs, and practices of major religions and religious traditions around the world. Students use theoretical, practical, and sociological perspectives to explore Judaism, Christianity, Islam, Hinduism, Buddhism, traditions of Indigenous Peoples, and other religions. Students analyze how various religions influence economic, political, and social systems. Through this analysis, students are better able to navigate diverse and global professional fields that require cultural competence and mutual understanding.
Outcomes
- This course will prepare students to:
- 1. Examine various major religions and their belief systems.
- 2. Analyze the impacts that systems of faith have had on culture and history.
- 3. Investigate intergroup relationships between varying religions.
- 4. Evaluate the influence of modern religions on current political, economic, and social systems.
