Doctoral and Post-Graduate Certificate Program General Admission Requirements

Applicants entering one of City University of Seattle’s Doctoral degree and post-graduate certificate programs must meet the following admissions criteria:

  1. Hold a master’s degree from an accredited or otherwise recognized institution.  

Upon inquiry to the program, the advisor and program faculty will work with the student to facilitate the process of collecting the required information for the application.

 

Admission to all University doctoral degree and post-graduate certificate programs requires that applicants hold a master’s degree from an accredited or otherwise recognized institution.

Applicants must submit an official transcript providing proof that they hold a master’s degree before they will be allowed to register for courses in any doctoral program.

In addition to proof of a master's degree, applicants must provide the following:

  • Completed application form
  • Application fee
  • Proof of English proficiency (see policy #2200.11 English Proficiency for details)
  • Evidence of completion of program specific prerequisite courses, as applicable
  • Program specific admissions requirements (see procedure #2100.01.01 Admission Procedures for program-specific requirements)

Falsification of Admissions Application Materials

Any falsification of documents, including but not limited to financial documents, application questions, transcripts, diplomas, testing or testing scores, or utilizing artificial intelligence to generate a required writing sample in whole or in part without proper citation, will result in a denial of admission for a candidate.

Should falsification be determined post-enrollment, students will be subject to the Student Code of Conduct which may result in suspension and/or expulsion from the University.

School-Specific Admission Requirements

School of Business and Management

In addition to the general university admission requirements for all doctoral degrees and post-graduate certificates, applicants to the School of Business and Management doctoral and post-graduate certificate programs must complete and submit the following:

  • Official transcript verifying completion of a master’s degree from an accredited or otherwise recognized institution with a minimum cumulative GPA of 3.0.

School of Education and Leadership

In addition to the general university admission requirements for all doctoral degrees, applicants to the School of Education and Leadership doctoral programs must also meet the following requirements:

  • Hold a master’s degree from an accredited or otherwise recognized institution with a minimum cumulative GPA of 3.000 or higher.
  • For applicants to the Principal, Superintendent, and Program Administrator certification programs, one reference must be an Executive/District Administrator.

School of Technology and Computing

In addition to the general university admission requirements required for all doctoral degrees and post-graduate certificates, applicants to the School of Technology and Computing doctoral and
post-graduate certificate programs must meet the requirements listed below:

  • Hold a master’s degree from an accredited or otherwise recognized institution.
    Preparatory courses may be required for applicants who do not have credentials in Programming, Operating Systems, Networking or Database.
  • Provide a resume demonstrating two or more years of leadership or technology related experience.
