COUN 655 Internship V - Systemic Interventions
In this fifth course of the internship sequence (
COUN 651, 652, 653, 654, 655), students in the Marriage, Couple, and Family Counseling specialization actively participate in 500 direct client hours (of which 250 must be with children, couples, and families) and 100 supervisory hours of supervised client contact either at the City University of Seattle counseling center or an external site in the community. Prior direct client hours and supervisory hours accumulated during
COUN 651, 652, and 653 can count toward this total. The student, site supervisor, and faculty supervisor will design an internship contract that includes roles and responsibilities, schedule, supervision format and frequency, required staff meetings, and client contact arrangements. The student will carry professional liability insurance and abide by the ACA Code of Ethics. Students are expected to use and complete the forms included in the MAC Clinical Training Manual. At the conclusion of each quarter of internship students are evaluated by the faculty supervisor in consultation with the site supervisor. Methods of instruction primarily involves in-class face-to-face learning, in a group supervision format.
