HR 551 Human Capital Strategy Management
This course focuses on leveraging human capital management with organizational strategy, while demonstrating how to align workforce management with the overall strategic goals of an organization. Students will learn how to navigate opportunities and pitfalls that may arise from these dynamics, in addition to learning results-based strategies for finding, motivating and rewarding individual employees, as well as successful work teams. With the skills developed through this course, students will also learn to better position themselves to manage human resource responsibilities, find employees who will positively impact an organization’s competitive position, and prepare for the SHRM-CP and SHRM-SCP national examination.
Outcomes
- This course will prepare the students to:
- Develop, implement, and evaluate employee orientation, training, development programs, and processes related to the human resources function of the organization.
- Demonstrate knowledge of human behavior in organizations and the role of management strategies, including motivational theory to influence behavior.
- Develop, implement, and evaluate organizational development strategies aimed at promoting organizational effectiveness, and recommend changes in human resources practices.
- Contribute to the development, implementation, and evaluation of employee recruitment, selection, and retention plans and processes.
- Manage own professional development and provide leadership to others in the achievement of ongoing competence in human resources professional practice.
- Administer and contribute to the design and evaluation of the performance management program, and apply current and emerging information technologies to support the human resources function.
