Student Records

CityU is committed to the responsible collection, use, disclosure, and protection of student records, including personal and educational information, in accordance with applicable laws and regulations. These include but are not limited to:

  • The Family Educational Rights and Privacy Act (FERPA) in the United States;
  • The Personal Information Protection and Electronic Documents Act (PIPEDA); and
  • The Personal Information Protection Acts (PIPA) in British Columbia and Alberta.

This policy serves as the foundation for CityU’s specific student records management sub-policies, including those addressing compliance with FERPA and Canadian privacy laws (PIPEDA, BC PIPA, and AB PIPA).
