The students will examine the impact of cultural, ethnic, and intersectional identities on individual and family systems within therapeutic contexts. They will explore how factors such as race, ethnicity, gender, sexual orientation, religion, and socio-economic background shape client experiences and influence the therapeutic process. Emphasis will be placed on developing cultural responsiveness, recognizing the limits of one’s cultural knowledge, and engaging in lifelong learning. The course will also introduce global mental health issues and their relevance to systemic therapy.
