COUN 570 School Counseling Practicum
The Practicum course is designed to serve as a transition from pre-practicum work into an internship placement for all candidates on the Professional School Counseling Track. Candidates will provide requests for placement to the Director of School Counseling Training, and the Director will make all requests on behalf of the candidates to the requested school districts. During the practicum experience, candidates complete 100 total hours and 40 direct hours of student contact at a program-approved school site. Students will meet weekly with a site supervisor for individual/triadic supervision, and weekly with the course instructor for group supervision. The candidates will carry professional liability insurance and abide by the ASCA Ethical Standards for Professional School Counselors. Candidates are expected to use and complete the forms included in the Training Manual, and candidates are responsible for uploading required documents and information into Tevera. Grading for this course is Pass/Fail. To pass, students must meet minimum performance requirements and submit all assignments by the due date.
