COUN 623 Counseling Skills
This course explores professional practice issues in the counseling profession. It addresses history, roles, functions, ethical and legal issues, the counseling process, and trends affecting the field and practice of mental health counseling. The course also covers orientation to professional organizations, self-care, the intake process, and different client populations and settings within the field. Students will be presented with triadic experiences in class to begin practicing basic counseling skills with feedback provided by peers and the course instructor.
