COUN 661 School Counseling Internship I

This is the first course of a four-part internship sequence for candidates on the Professional School Counseling Track (COUN 661, 663, 665, 667). For the entire internship sequence, candidates complete a minimum of 600 total hours and 240 direct supervised hours of student contact at a program-approved school internship site. The Director of School Counseling Training will provide documents that include roles and responsibilities, schedule, and supervision format and frequency. A contract will be conferred by the Director of Training prior to the student’s school-work engagement. The candidates will carry professional liability insurance and abide by the ASCA Ethical Standards for Professional School Counselors. Candidates are expected to use and complete the forms included in the Training Manual, and candidates are responsible for uploading required documents and information into Tevera. At the conclusion of each quarter of internship, candidates are evaluated by the site supervisor. Grading for this course is Pass/Fail. To pass, candidates must meet minimum performance requirements and submit all assignments by the due date.
