EEA 545 Change Management with Global Perspectives *

This course asks students to consider the present as well as ways forwardpersonally, professionally, and academically – not only as it relates to their worldview, but to varying global perspectives, applicable change managements. In the course, students are to consider change in both the individual and the educational organization. This course also introduces students to the becoming facilitators of change management through continuous learning, development, and school improvement. Students will engage in a review of their experiences and learning in the program, consider current and emerging trends in education on larger, national, and global scales, and integrate their learning in developing either a personal or school plan that covers/touches on/considers/emerges out of what they have learned in the program.

Prerequisite

This course is intended as a last course for the leadership program to allow candidates to contextualize school leadership in larger contexts and they are expected to have completed all other courses (aside from EEA 650/ EEA 655).

Outcomes

  1. This course will prepare students to:
  2. Demonstrate knowledge of global issues such as cultural differences and sustainability affecting education.
  3. Apply the principles of change management with a global perspective.
  4. Evaluate in a systematic review of their learning throughout the program to see how they have changed.
  5. Evaluate a plan for school improvement, accreditation processes, reform, renewal, innovation, democratic practices, data-informed assessment systems.
  6. Analyze provincial curricula considering emerging trends and needs.
  7. Develop the process of inquiry and strategic planning.
