ETC 515 Assessment and Feedback
In this course, candidates are introduced to student-engaged assessment practices (formative, summative, portfolios, conferencing, etc.). Emphasis is placed on the skills necessary to align assessments with common core standards and learning targets, connecting knowledge and skills to authentic and relevant contexts, using data to inform instructional decisions, and centering students in the processes of feedback and evaluation. Candidates use self-reflection to analyze and inform their own assessment practices. This course includes components of state requirements for certification.
Outcomes
- This course will prepare students to:
- 1. Unpack standards and learning goals into understandings, knowledge, and skills.
- 2. Apply a variety of formative, summative, and student-engaged assessment practices into lesson and unit plans that are aligned with standards and learning targets.
- 3. Analyze a variety of feedback and forms of data to make instructional decisions.
- 4. Create authentic and relevant assessments for students to engage with, allowing for multiple pathways and opportunities to show skill mastery of skills and knowledge.
