EGC 545 Career Counselling and Information Services

Students identify how knowledge of the world of work, career opportunities, and information services is relevant to academic and social counselling in the public schools. They study educational and career decision-making, values, and information services as applied equitably to diverse groups. Students apply counselling theory and incorporate career planning and development into the counselling process.

Outcomes

  1. This course will prepare students to:
  2. Explore the role of career counselling in K-12 education.
  3. Identify issues surrounding access, equity, and the impact of beliefs, values, and stereotypes on career counselling and career choices from both client and counsellor perspectives.
  4. Facilitate students and teachers in understanding the link between curriculum, instruction, and assessment to student effort, performance, and success beyond high school.
  5. Engage in reflective analysis and consider how to facilitate decision making process.
