CJ 350 Globalization and Crime (HU or SS)

This course explores social, political, and economic impacts on various forms of crime. Students will take a multi-disciplinary approach to the exploration of international and transnational crimes, including genocide, terrorism, human smuggling, sex trafficking, and antiquities theft.

  1. This course will prepare students to:
  2. Describe conceptual and theoretical frameworks that give context to globalization and crime.
  3. Critically assess and develop views concerning the rise and consequences of international and transnational crimes.
  4. Distinguish the different types of transnational and international crimes and response mechanisms.
  5. Recognize the historic process of globalization and how it has shaped social, political, and economic history.
  6. Research and critically evaluate public domain and scholarly sources of information about a particular theme or concept associated with globalization and crime.
