U.S. and Canadian immigration laws prescribe the terms and conditions under which students holding a visa may be employed. International students are permitted to accept employment consistent with either U.S. or Canadian immigration regulations.

Off-Campus Work Permit During your Studies
Standard Work Permit
International students with a Study Permit (Student Visa) in Canada, who are enrolled full-time, might be eligible for a Work Permit, with the option of working full-time during scheduled breaks in the academic calendar. Work Permits for Co-op and Internship Programs
International students must have the appropriate Work Permit to take part in a required Co-op and Internship programs, in addition to a Study Permit. Contact your Academic Advisor at least 6 months prior to the Co-op or Internship start date to obtain a CityU Confirmation of Enrollment (COE) letter confirming the work experience is essential to completing your school curriculum. Working in Canada after Graduation
International students may be able to work temporarily in Canada after graduation (after the degree is awarded). They need a Post-Graduation Work Permit (PGWP) to work. Contact your Academic Advisor as soon as your degree is posted to request a degree completion letter.
