COUN 726 Counselor Leadership and Advocacy
As a change agent in society, students explore the leadership roles of counselor educators within a pluralistic and evolving society. This includes, though is not limited to, advocating for the counseling profession, recognizing and addressing the impacts of privilege and marginalization, and striving for the elimination of societal and institutionalized oppression, including but not limited to Black, Brown, and Indigenous and Other People of Color (BBIPOC). Students examine theories and skills of leadership, advocacy models, and current topical and political issues in counseling.
Methods of instruction primarily feature in-class learning with some asynchronous online activities.
