This MBA program provides a cutting-edge framework of the emerging skills, knowledge and tools demanded of  today’s business enterprises. The program was developed in partnership with business leaders from key industries who provided valuable input regarding what graduate business professionals need to cultivate and master within themselves and an organization. Courses provide focus on emerging business challenges such as  utilizing self-cultivation for management, design thinking for innovation, law and governing the modern business, leadership, influence, currency of trust, digital marketing and analytics, financial control and  reporting, data-driven decision making, ethics and social impact, and entrepreneurship and the art of creative  thinking.

Admission Requirements

In addition to the general admission requirements for graduate programs, found under Admissions in the catalog menu, applicants to this program should hold a bachelor's degree in a business-related field. Those that do not must complete the co-requisite course MBA 11 Common Professional Components.

Foundations (3 Credits)

Students who do not hold a bachelor's degree in a business-related field (such as business administration, commerce, accounting) must complete MBA 11. MBA 11 must be taken in the first quarter of attendance and may be taken concurrently with no more than one other graduate level course.

An MBA combined with an emphasis in Change Leadership is specifically designed to help you become an effective change agent within your organization. Data Analytics (12-15 Credits)

The MBA emphasis in Data Analytics follows a commonly accepted data analytics lifecycle beginning by showing students how to frame business problems, establish analysis plans, and acquire and process data sets. Students will learn how to organize data projects to meet organizational and/or stakeholder needs by effectively utilizing resources and expertise. Students will also learn how to build, deploy and report on appropriate data models to track their performance over the long-term thereby ensuring ongoing stake holder satisfaction.

This emphasis area within the MBA provides a deep dive into the world of Fintech exploring topics like blockchain, digital payments, robot-advisors, peer-to-peer lending, and more. Students complete the emphasis area with a deep understanding of the global landscape of Fintech enhanced through case studies, guest lectures from the experts, and examination of global Fintech innovation. The program culminates with a hands-on Capstone project where students develop strategic solutions for real-world Fintech challenges.

Lean Six Sigma (12-15 Credits)

Lean Six Sigma is a business strategy with a set of tools for organizations to improve capability of their processes. Many organizations now apply Lean Six Sigma methodologies to eliminate waste within their business processes. The CityU Six Sigma program is designed to train professionals who want to gain Lean Six Sigma knowledge and certification.

The first two courses are designed to build student’s knowledge and capabilities to become Six Sigma Green Belt certified. Six Sigma Green Belts are individuals who function under the supervision of a Six Sigma Black Belt to apply Six Sigma methodologies. The last two courses are designed to build student’s knowledge and capabilities to become Lean Six Sigma Black Belt certified. Certified Six Sigma Black Belts are professionals who can describe, apply, and teach Lean and Six Sigma concepts and principles.

After completion of these four courses students will have a thorough understanding of all aspects of Define, Measure, Analyze, Improve and Control (DMAIC) model in accordance with Lean and Six Sigma methodologies. CityU’s Six Sigma program offers great opportunity for students at different stages of their career, to gain knowledge of Lean and Six Sigma principles that can be applied to every business process in every industry.

Specialized Study (12 Credits)

The Specialized Study emphasis consists of a minimum of 12 credits taken in a specific content area. Coursework may be completed through independent study, current course offerings, or developed for a specific industry or organizational setting. The Individualized Study emphasis is proposed by the student and approved by the Program Director prior to registration.

Supply Chain Management (12 Credits)

The emphasis in Supply Chain Management prepares students to advance in this exciting and evolving field of management. The emphasis area is designed to provide students with the skills to apply logistics functional expertise from planning of inventory deployment to designing transportation networks. In addition, the framing concepts of cross-functional engagement of Supply Chain Management processes will assist graduates to reinvent their organization from within, and then engage strategic partners to better align processes and mitigate operational risks.
