COUN 705 Professional Ethics in CES

This course provides an advanced exploration of current ethical, legal, and professional issues associated with professional roles related to counseling practice, clinical supervision, and counselor preparation training. Ethical explorations include the application of ethical standards, professional liability practices, and risk management skills to these various roles.

Methods of instruction primarily feature in-class learning with some asynchronous online activities.

  1. This course will prepare students to:
  2. a) Apply professional and ethical codes/guidelines, laws, and ethical decision-making models to advanced practice and clinical supervision.
  3. b) Analyze the effect of current topical and political issues in counseling on the practice of counseling professionals, counselor educators and clinical supervisors.
